Creating eye-catching posts for social media is critical to your business or brand. Memes can help.

What is a meme?

A meme is an interesting, eye-catching or funny image with an appropriate caption. Memes are posted on social media with the intention of gaining attention — and perhaps customers as well.

How do you create a meme?

There are many apps and websites you can use to create memes. Let’s take a look at a few that offer free options:

Canva

You can go to the website or you can download the app. Canva will ask you to create a free account, which is recommended because the site will then save all of your work.

Canva will allow you to upload your photos to create personalized memes. You can then add text, pictures from within the app, backgrounds, and stickers to personalize your projects.

Canva is relatively easy to navigate and understand. Once you get the hang of it, creating projects is quick and easy.

PhotoGrid

PhotoGrid offers an app you can download to your phone or tablet. The app offers free and paid options. The free options allow you to create a photo grid with text and backgrounds, slide shows with music, and basic editing options for your photos.

PhotoGrid is easy to navigate and understand.

YouCut

Download the free app and you can create beautiful videos. You can add photos, text, music, photo transitions, animations, and music to your videos.

YouCut saves the videos to your device and allows you to share directly to social media (from your device), including YouTube. It’s easy to navigate and understand.

What type of information should you include in a meme?

Start off with an eye-catching photo and or video, but be sure to include business information such as your business name and contact information to each meme. When viewers see your meme/post, you want them to have all the information they need to know what services/products you offer and how to reach you to utilize your business.
