Business gurus love to tell entrepreneurs like you to “build your online presence.” But how exactly do you do that?

Here are thee ways to promote your business online and truly connect with your current and new customers.

1. Show up where your customers hang out online.

Should you focus on TikTok or Instagram? Should you have a YouTube channel or start your own podcast? Knowing who your customers are and their fave social media and online apps will help you make these decisions.

Some entrepreneurs create businesses to help people like themselves. If this is true for your own business, then you can probably just focus on posting regularly on your fave social media app for at least a few weeks.

You could then add posts to another social media app as long as you show up regularly on both apps.

However, your customers might be different than you.

If this sounds like your business, ask a few of your customers about their fave apps and regularly post on that app, and eventually post on another app that’s also popular with your customers.

2. Build business relationships and partnerships.

Working with other businesses and organizations locally and online is a great way to promote your business. Share videos, stories, and other social media posts when you go to local events for another business or a charity.

You could also build relationships with podcasters, YouTubers, bloggers, and other content creators who are connected with your industry.

This can lead to you being interviewed and getting more opportunities to promote your business to potential new customers.

3. Be helpful online.

Your customers have problems and questions. You and your business’ products or services can provide some solutions and answers.

Give your customers some free, educational content online. This can be done with short, entertaining but helpful videos on social media.

Give your customers some solutions with your own YouTube channel, podcast, or blog.

Interviews with other online creators, as we mentioned before, can also help people who then become the newest customers for your business.

Final Thoughts

Business advice can be confusing, especially if you’re a new entrepreneur. Just remember this: Making money is a major part of running a business. You need loyal, regular customers to do that.

So, be sure to:

  • go where your customers already are online
  • build business relationships
  • give your customers helpful information.

Using these tips will help you connect with customers who will keep coming back to your business for more of your products and services.
